Man (60s) who was injured in farm accident dies in hospital

The farmer suffered serious head injuries on Friday morning.

A MAN INJURED in a workplace accident on a farm in Co Roscommon on Friday has died in hospital.

The farmer, aged in his 60s, suffered serious head injuries on the farm near the village of Arigna – around 25km from Boyle – on Friday morning.

Emergency services were called and the man was airlifted to Galway University Hospital.

He was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, which specialises in treating head injuries.

A Garda spokesperson has confirmed that he died at the Dublin hospital.

Separate Garda and the Health and Safety Authority investigations are under way.
