Man in court over raid at Rathfarnham bookmakers

The suspect was caught near the scene of the crime yesterday afternoon.

A 28-YEAR-OLD man is due in court this afternoon in connection with an armed robbery at a bookmakers in Rathfarnham yesterday.

At about 2.30pm Thursday, a man entered the bookies shop in Whitechurch armed with a gun. He demanded cash and made his escape.

He was, however, detained a short distance from the premises.

The firearm and cash were recovered and the suspect taken to Rathfarnham garda station and held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
