Armed robbery of cash-in-transit van outside Dublin supermarket

AN ARMED ROBBERY of a cash-in-transit van took place outside a supermarket in west Dublin this afternoon.

The incident occurred at around 12.45pm this afternoon outside the supermarket at Carpenterstown in Dublin 15.

Two men, one of whom was believed to have been armed with a handgun, approached one of the CIT van staff members and took a cash box with an undisclosed amount inside it.

No shots were fired and there were no injuries in the incident.

The two suspects then made their getaway in a silver Volkswagen Golf which gardaí say is possibly a 1999 model.
