Staff held up with handgun and 'sword-like' object in Blessington robbery

Two men have been arrested in connection with a filling station robbery last night.

TWO MEN ARE in custody this morning following a robbery at a filling station in Blessington at last night.

Two men, one armed with a “sword-like object” and the second with a handgun, held up staff at a service station in Blessington and stole a quantity of cash. The men absconded scene in a car.

A Garda car patrolling in the area stopped the car and arrested the two men (aged 30 and 40). The handgun, sword, clothing and cash were recovered in the car.

The two men were arrested and are currently detained at Bray Garda Station, under section 30 of Offences Against the State Act, 1939.

The scene at the filling station is preserved for technical examination and the car has been seized for examination.

In a separate incident, two men appeared in court yesterday morning charged in relation to the robbery of a filling station in Cork city on last week.
