Man arrested after armed robbery in Kildare

A female staff member was threatened with a handgun on Thursday evening.

A MAN IN his 20s has been arrested this morning following an armed robbery at a filling station in Athy, Kildare on Thursday evening.

A man entered the shop on Carlow road and threatened a female staff member with a handgun just before 7pm. He then left on foot with an amount of cash.

Gardaí investigating the robbery arrested a man in the Athy area this morning.

He is being held at Newbridge Garda Station.
