Man (19) arrested after robbery with iron bar in Newbridge

The incident happened at about 4.45am yesterday morning.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a 19-year-old man following a report of a robbery in Newbridge, Co Kildare yesterday.

Two men (aged 18 and 20 years) were approached by a man with an iron bar at Langton Park, Green Road at about 4.45am on Sunday.

This man threatened the two injured parties and demanded their mobile phones. The suspect fled the scene.

Local gardaí were contacted and carried out a search of the area. A suspect was located and arrested and the stolen property was also recovered.

The man was taken to Newbridge Garda Station where he was detained under section four of the Criminal Justice Act. He was later charged and bailed to appear before Naas District Court on 22 September.
