Man to appear in court over armed robbery at post office

A number of shots were fired in the incident in January.

A MAN IS due to appear in court today in connection with an armed robbery at a post office in Dublin in January.

Gardaí in Donnybrook arrested a man in his 40s on Monday. He is due appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice this afternoon.

On 19 January at about 2.30pm a masked and armed man entered the post office at Woodbine Park, Blackrock.

He threatened customers and staff and fired a number of shots before leaving the scene on foot. No one in the post office was injured.

As he fled the scene he was challenged by a male passerby. Following a struggle a firearm, described as a handgun, was recovered. The raider managed to flee the scene on foot. The passerby sustained minor injuries during the altercation.
