Robbers with baseball bat and gun threaten supermarket staff

Two men were arrested by gardaí following the incident.

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested by gardaí in connection with an armed robbery in Rathfarnham.

At approximately 8.50pm last night, three men entered a supermarket on Grange Road, Rathfarnham armed with what was reported as a baseball bat and a handgun.

They threatened staff and escaped with a sum of money in a waiting car. There were no injuries reported, said gardaí.

A car and suspects were located by gardaí at Whitehall Road in Churchtown a short time later. Following a foot pursuit, two men, one in his early 30’s and the other in his 20’s, were arrested and a handgun was recovered  (subject to technical examination).

A quantity of money was also recovered.

The two males are currently in custody in Tallaght Garda Station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
