Three being held over Rathfarnham cash-in-transit armed robbery

Two men and a woman – all in their 30s and 40s – remain in Garda custody.

THREE PEOPLE REMAIN in Garda custody in connection with an armed robbery in Dublin yesterday.

A single armed raider escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash from a security van at a Rathfarnham shopping centre on Thursday afternoon.

Two men and a woman, aged in their late 30s and early 40s, were arrested in a follow-up operation in the Ballyfermot area of the city. All three are still being questioned at Terenure and Rathmines stations, Gardaí told TheJournal.ie this morning.

The lone raider approached the G4S security van in the car park of Rathfarnham Shopping Centre on Butterfield Avenue at around 12.45pm. He escaped with the cash box in a red Skoda Octavia car driven by second male, which was later found on fire at Springfield Ave in Templegoue.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured in the incident.
