Two men arrested following armed robbery on a shop in Waterford

Gardaí arrested the men, aged in their 30s, in a follow-up search.

GARDAÍ IN WATERFORD are investigating an armed robbery at a shop on the Cork Road, Waterford at around 11.55pm last night.

One man entered the shop armed with a handgun, threatened staff and demanded cash.

The alarm was raised and the culprit fled the scene in a dark coloured car in the direction of the Cork Road before any money was stolen. No one was injured in the incident.

In a follow-up search, gardaí arrested two males in their 30s in connection with this incident and a firearm was recovered.

Both men are currently detained at Waterford Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 – Offences Against the State Act 1939.
