23-year-old arrested over stabbing of man and son at their home

The victims suffered minor stab wounds when they found a man trying to break into a car outside their home and confronted him.

A 23-YEAR-old man has been arrested in Kerry over the stabbing of a man and his 17-year-old son during a home invasion.

Yesterday gardaí said the two victims sustained non-life threatening injuries after they are believed to have found an intruder trying to break into a car outside their home in Woodbrook Lawn in Kerry.

They said an unknown man entered the grounds of the house and interfered with a car parked in the driveway. He then walked around to the back of the house and was confronted by the home owner and his son. An altercation occurred resulting in the home owner and his son receiving minor stab wounds.

The assailant fled but gardaí provided a description of him and they have confirmed this morning that a 23-year-old man was arrested in Tralee later in the day.

He is being detained at Tralee Garda Station.

Another tragic incident on our roads. I note the deceased person had to be brought 40km to Ballinasloe and the injured pair 75km to Tullamore. Surely an urban area of this size deserves access to emergency facilities which are within a reasonable distance

well considering up until five years ago there was an A&E in Roscommon Town which was shut by FG/LAB despite promises before that election they would keep it open, just like if anyone gets injured in a match in Dr Hyde Park which is right beside the hospital they have to brought to ballinasloe, Mullingar, Sligo, Tullamore etc

Tragic, but on another note this is mental how many people are being killed on our roads. In last few days there was a lot killed. So sad!
