Two charged after attack on Luas driver

The driver of the Luas received minor injuries in the incident at the Windy Arbour stop in south Dublin last night.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested after a public order offence on a Luas in Dublin last night in which the driver of the tram received minor injuries.

A 21-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man were taken to Pearse Street station over the incident which happened at the Windy Arbour stop in south Dublin at around 7pm on Saturday.  The driver did not require hospitalisation.

The woman was charged with assault and the man was charged with a public order offence.

Both will appear in court next month.

Sinn Féin representative Shaun Tracey said that while attacks like this are extremely rare, there have been some issues of anti-social behaviour on the Luas Green Line.
