Arrest made after assault outside pub leaves man in critical condition

A man in his 40s was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he remains in critical condition.

A MAN IN his 20s was arrested last night after a serious assault occurred outside a pub in Clonsilla, Dublin 15.

Shortly after 11 pm, gardaí and emergency services responded to reports of an incident at the entrance to the pub’s car park on Clonsilla Road.

A man in his 40s sustained serious injuries and was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, where he remains in critical condition.

It is understood that the pub was closed early as a result of the incident.

The man arrested is currently detained at a garda station in the Dublin region, gardaí said.

They’re appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of the premises at the time of the incident to come forward.

Gardaí are also appealing to anyone with camera footage, including motorists with dashcam footage from Clonsilla Road, between the junctions of Shelerin Road and Porterstown Road, at the time, to contact them.
