Firearms seized and seven arrested over feud-related violence

All seven people arrested are still in custody.

A NUMBER OF arrests were made in Athlone yesterday morning after several firearms were seized during a spate of searches.

Seven people were arrested- five men and two women aged between 27 – 65. The raids were carried out near Moate.

RTÉ is reporting that the searches were part of “an operation into feud-related violence in the travelling community”.

Gardaí have confirmed that all seven people arrested are still in custody in the midlands.
