Watch out for fallen trees on the roads this morning

Wind and rain will continue until this evening, so tie down those wheelie bins.

IN CASE YOU hadn’t already noticed, it was pretty windy overnight. A Status Yellow wind warning remains in place today until 6pm, for the whole country.

If you are driving this morning, take extra care, as AA Roadwatch has been reporting a number of fallen trees on roads in the last 12 hours and the strong winds are to continue.

Met Éireann said this morning the country is facing widespread showers that will become heavy in some places. There is also a risk of hail on thunder, especially in the northern half of the country.

Towards the evening, thankfully, showers will ease.

However west to northwest winds will continue, from strong to gale force and gusty, until this evening.

It will be cold all day, with temperatures of just 5 or 6 degrees in the north and 7 and 9 degrees elsewhere.
