Former This Morning host John Leslie questioned over alleged sexual assault

Police say they are investigating an alleged assault that happened in Edinburgh last week

A FORMER BRITISH television presenter is reportedly being investigated over a sexual assault on a woman last week.

The Guardian reports that John Leslie (50), a former presenter of BBC’s Blue Peter and ITV’s This Morning, is being questioned by police in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a 22-year-old woman in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Police in Scotland have been photographed removing what appears to be evidence bags from Mr Leslie’s home in Morningside, Edinburgh.

Mr Leslie had been presenting an afternoon radio show on a local radio station, Forth 2, but the show is understood to have been suspended.

A spokesperson for Bauer Media, the parent company of Forth 2, said that the company would not be commenting at this time.

In response to inquiries made by TheJournal.ie, Police Scotland said that they were investigating a reported sexual assault that happened last week:

“Police in Edinburgh are investigating a report of a sexual assault of a 22-year-old woman, which took place between the evening of Thursday 19 November and the morning of Friday 20 November in Edinburgh. Inquiries are currently ongoing.”

John Leslie first appeared on television in 1987, on the satellite channel Music Box. He went on to present a number of shows, including Blue Peter, This Morning and Wheel of Fortune.
