POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland have appealed for the public to come forward with information concerning the attempted murder of a man who was shot in the head with a shotgun.
The attack took place in Rosnareen Avenue in west Belfast three months ago today. The man is still in hospital in a critical condition.
The attack occurred at 8.30 in the morning on Thursday 19 November. The man was shot in the head as he sat in the car with his partner in Rosnareen Avenue.
Police said that they believed two men were responsible for the attack, which occurred in broad daylight as people made their way to work and school.
Detective Inspector Peter Mullan said:
“We believe the two men came out of a vacant house in Rossnareen Avenue wearing high visibility workmen’s jackets.One of them approached the victim’s car and opened fire with what we believe to have been a shotgun.
The men then made off in a silver Honda Civic, the Detective Mullan said, which was abandoned a short distance away.
“The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital and has sustained life changing injuries. This was a ruthless and reckless attack in a busy street at a busy time of the day.”
Two men – aged 18 and 50 – have already appeared in court charged in connection with the overall investigation with the incident.
