Poll: Should election candidates be fined for not taking down their posters in time?

All posters should have been taken down by now.

IT WAS A busy week of counting and recounting but the election is officially over and 158 new TDs have been voted in.

All that’s left now is the clean up – and as per the law all election posters should have been taken down by now.

Anyone who has posters still up after 12 o’clock last night is liable to receive an on-the-spot fine from their local council.

Local authorities in Dublin issued over 90 fines to candidates in the 2014 local and European elections who did not remove their posters by the deadline.

So, this morning we’re asking: Should candidates be fined for not taking down their election posters in time?

Poll Results:

Yes (15590)
No (654)
Don't know (163)
