It's going to be cold and wet this weekend with temperatures to drop below freezing

Temperatures will drop as low as -3°C in some places.

COLD, WET AND windy weather will spread out across Ireland this weekend, with temperatures dropping to as low as -3°C in some places.

There will be bright spells also at times, with some clear weather later on today and over Saturday – but by Sunday evening wet and windy weather will descend the length and breadth of the country.

Met Éireann says that today will be dry at first, but rain in coastal counties will spread eastwards as the morning goes on and affect everywhere by early afternoon.

Brighter conditions will develop in the evening with top temperatures of 7 to 10°C.

It will be cold tonight and showery in the west of the country – with rain turning to hail and sleet and a risk of thunderstorms in some places.

Lowest temperatures will be +1 to -2 °C with sharp to severe frost on some stretches of road.

Outlook

Tomorrow will be cold and bright – with sunny spells but also rain, hail and sleet forecast.

Saturday night will be very frosty and temperatures will drop all the way down to -3°C in some places with scattered wintry showers also.

Sunday will begin bright, but heavy rain will spread out across Ireland in the evening. It will be cold too -with temperatures only reaching 9°C at a maximum and dropping down in the evening.

Have a great weekend everyone!
