A UNIT INVOLVED in the search for two men has appealed for as many volunteers as possible to come forward to assist in finding them.

Anthony Henehan and Ben Garrett are both missing from Galway city.

The search for them is set to resume this morning at Liam Mellows GAA Club house, Ballyloughane, Galway.

According to Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit, a voluntary group, Henehan (30s), from Kiltoom, Co Roscommon was last seen at Wolfe Tone Bridge in Galway city on Thursday 10 March.

Gardaí confirmed that Garrett (21), a soldier from Breaffy, Co Mayo was last seen on Eglinton Street in Galway city at around 1.45am on Thursday 31 March.

A search has been ongoing for both men.

Gardaí are being assisted in their search by the Irish Defence Forces and the Oranmore Maree Coastal Search Unit.

The Oranmore search unit has been coordinating searches through its Facebook page and last night issued a statement calling for “as many volunteers as possible”.

“Searches usually take between 2-3 hours,” the search unit said.

For those that volunteer on the search it is essential to have hi-viz jacket, wellies, waterproof clothing and a stick as they will be searching on very challenging and wet terrain and it can get windy at times.

Garrett is described as approximately 6ft in height, with short brown hair and of athletic build.

When last seen he was wearing dark jeans and a light blue round-neck Hollister jumper.
