Hutch murder: Gardaí look for help in tracing movements of getaway car

A silver Skoda seen in the area at the time of the shooting was later found burnt out.

GARDAÍ ARE APPEALING for help from the public in tracking the movements of a car following the murder of Gareth Hutch in Dublin yesterday.

Hutch was gunned down yesterday morning at the Avondale House apartment complex in Dublin’s north-inner city as he entered his car.

Two men carried out the shooting ran into a car (a black BMW 5 Series), before exiting it again and fleeing the scene on foot.

Gardaí are now appealing for people with information on a different vehicle that was spotted in the area at the time of the shooting.

A silver Skoda car with a registration 05 D 15049 was spotted on Sean McDermott Street after the murder.

It was also seen on nearby Rutland Street Lower and was later found in the Dubber Cross area of Finglas burnt out.

It is believed that this is the car the men used to escape the area following the shooting.

Hutch (35) was the latest victim in a spiralling feud between rival gangs that has already claimed the lives of seven men.

The father-of-one worked as a taxi driver and had come to the attention of the gardaí in the past.

Anyone with any information on the car or on the incident in general is asked to contact Mountjoy Garda station on 01 6668000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
