A boy has been left in a critical condition after being hit by a truck while crossing the road in Navan, Co Meath.
According to gardaí, the 11-year-old-boy and another pedestrian were crossing the road when a truck collided with the boy. The boy was then airlifted to Tallaght Hospital and is described as being in a critical condition.
The male driver of the truck, who is in his mid-30s, was uninjured in the incident.
The road traffic collision occurred in the townland of Abbeylands South, Navan this morning at approximately 9.50am.
The roads in the area are currently closed to facilitate the forensic collision investigators, carry out their duties. Local diversions are in place.
Garda investigations are ongoing.
