Temperatures to drop below freezing during Irish rugby match

Don’t let the sun fool you – it’s absolutely Arctic outside.

AS YOU MAY have noticed, it’s a bit chilly outside today.

For those of you heading to the Ireland versus New Zealand match, your rugby hats and scarves are going to be put to the test, with temperatures set to drop to below freezing, and could fall as low as -3 degrees before the end of the match.

The good news for those in the east is the skies are clear, the weather is dry, and there isn’t much wind.

In other parts of the country, scattered showers are expected in the west, cloudy weather could drift across the south and will be breezy, according to Met Éireann.

Worst case scenario? Rainfall overnight could turn to sleet and frost – so any trips in the car planned for tomorrow should include a little window clearing.

For today, some road closures will be in place from 1.30pm to allow a few frozen fans into the capital’s stadium.

Kick off is at 5.30pm so we’re expecting a good few frozen fans by the end of the 80 minutes.
