Hutch-Kinahan feud: Post-mortem due to be carried out on body of shooting victim

The man was shot in front of his partner in Clondalkin yesterday evening.

A POST-MORTEM is due to be carried out on the body of a man who was killed in a shooting in West Dublin yesterday evening.

The man is believed to be the latest victim of a gangland feud between the Hutch and Kinahan crime gangs, which has so far claimed 10 lives since September, 2015.

The man – named locally as Noel ‘Duck Egg’ Kirwan – is believed to have been an associate of Gerry “The Monk” Hutch.

He was fatally shot in the head while in a car with his partner on St Ronan’s Drive in Clondalkin at about 5pm yesterday evening.

The shooter then left the scene and is believed to have got into a white Peugeot Partner Van, registration number: 10-CE-9834. The van would have left the estate through St Ronan’s Avenue, crossing the Neilstown road in heavy traffic.

The van was found burnt out a short distance away at the Neilstown Shopping Centre. The assassin and getaway driver had left ammunition in the van, causing it to cook and explode, though nobody was hurt.

A firearm was recovered at the scene of the shooting and is being examined.

Gardaí have said that it is too early to whether the man is a victim of the Hutch-Kinahan feud, but sources have confirmed he was a close associate of Gerry Hutch.

A Garda spokesperson this morning said that the body of the man has been taken to Tallaght Hospital, where a post-mortem is due to be carried out later today.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact them at Lucan Garda Station on 01 666 7300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666111 or any garda station.
