Man in 'serious condition' after being found unconscious in Waterford house on Christmas Day

Emergency services were called to a house on Francis Street at 8.30pm.

A YOUNG MAN is in a serious condition after being found unresponsive at a house in Waterford.

Emergency services were called to the home on Francis Street where they treated the man before he was removed to Waterford Regional Hospital.

The man, who is understood to be from Eastern Europe and in his late 20s, had earlier been with friends in the house.

The emergency services were called after 8.30pm.

Gardaí have yet to establish if the man suffered his injuries from a fall or in an assault. He was found with significant head injuries.

A garda spokesman confirmed an investigation has started but said it was in its very early stages.

He said: “Gardaí were called to a premises on Francis Street in Waterford. A man was discovered unconscious at a house there. He’s in a serious condition. Investigations are ongoing.”
