Irish woman charged with murder of Irish man who was stabbed to death in Sydney

The man was critically injured by a stab wound to his neck.

A 25-YEAR-OLD Irish woman has been charged with the murder of a 29-year-old Irish man who was stabbed to death in Sydney, Australia earlier today.

The fatal stabbing took place in the suburb of Padstow with New South Wales Police saying they were called to the scene at about 12.15 am after reports of a fight involving a number of people.

When police arrived at the scene on Watson Road they found the 29-year-old Irish man critically injured with a stab wound to his neck.

It’s understood the man is from Wexford.

Efforts were made by both police and paramedics to save his life but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cordon was placed around the home and a 25-year-old woman, who is known to the dead man, was arrested.

A 36-year-old local man was also arrested and both were taken to Bankstown Police Station.

The woman, who police have confirmed is an Irish national, has been charged with murder.

She has been refused bail and will appear in Parramatta Local Court tomorrow.

The man is still being questioned by police.

The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed to TheJournal.ie that it was aware of the case and was providing consular assistance.
