Man (20s) in serious condition after being hit by a van while jogging

A MAN IS in a serious condition in hospital after being involved in a hit-and-run in Dublin last night.

The man, who is in his late 20s, was out jogging when he was struck by a van in the Hazelwood Drive area of Artane shortly after 9.45pm last night.

A vehicle, thought to be a white Renault Megane van, didn’t stop and was located abandoned nearby on Beechlawn Grove, Coolock (close to Parnell’s GAA Club).

The man received medical assistance at the scene before being taken to Beaumont Hospital where his condition is described as critical.

The vehicle is being technically examined. Investigating gardaí are appealing for witnesses with information to contact them at Coolock Garda Station on (01) 666 4200, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
