Man (30s) dies in early morning car crash

The single vehicle collision occurred on the N59 in Co Mayo.

GARDAÍ IN WESTPORT are investigating after a 30-year-old man died in a car crash early this morning.

At approximately 4.20am today, gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene of a single vehicle collision on the N59 in Kilbride, Newport, Co Mayo.

It’s understood the car left the road and struck a wooden fence.

A man was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the car.

His body has since been removed to Mayo University Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The local coroner has been notified.

The road remains closed to facilitate Forensic Collision Investors and local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Westport Garda Station on 098-50237 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111.
