DUBLIN MODELLING AGENCIES have warned the public to be wary after receiving reports that people online are pretending to be modelling agents to ask adults and children to send revealing pictures.
Assets Model Agency uploaded a Facebook post on Friday telling people that no modelling agency contacts people through social media or third-party websites, and will always meet the person first.
“If you are interested in modelling, be it child, commercial or fashion modelling, please do not email polaroids in bikinis or underwear to any social media account pertaining to work in an agency or scout for an agency.”
They stressed that “no model agency will contact you through social media asking for bikini pictures for representation”.
Yesterday, another modelling agency, 1st Option, posted a similar post, saying that they had received reports of someone pretending to represent their agency on social media platforms including Snapchat.
The individual is asking children, young girls and teenagers to send photographs to them with a view to becoming a model. The individual is also contacting parents of young girls through websites.
We will never contact parents of children, young girls and teenagers for photographs unless they have contacted us first.
The agency said that if you are contacted by someone through social media saying they are from 1st Option to report them immediately.
People who are interested in taking part in modelling are advised to contact an agency directly or attend open days.
