Dublin: The annual Pets in the City is back this weekend and will take place Sunday from 11.30am to 4.30pm. This free event is perfect for the whole family and animal lovers, with the DSPCA King of Paws training team due to host dog agility workshops and a scruffs dog show. Also in Dublin, the International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival is on between tomorrow and Sunday night. Now in it’s 14th year, the festival has plays covering a range of issues from gay Travellers to Mormon missionaries.

Galway: The International Mayfly Festival is an affordable family friendly event full of fun events from angling to a fresh fish food festival. Taking place all weekend in Oughterard, attendees can discover the shores of Lough Corrib.

Westmeath: There’s a lot in store for lovers of the arts this weekend with Life festival taking place at Belvedere House and Gardens in Westmeath. It’s straight up arts activities and street performers with jugglers, fire breathers and magicians. Tickets are still available to buy here.

The Kilbeggan Races are returning to Westmeath again this weekend. With a deep history, races all day and entertainment between, it’s a perfect day out for just about everyone. Tickets cost between €12-€15, with tickets available at the door. More information can be found here.

Mayo: Keep an eye on the skies of Mayo Sunday as the Westport Airshow 2017 returns to the town. The free event will see planes perform loop-the-loops and swirl around the skies as pilots conduct nifty tricks for the audiences. Starting at 1pm, the event will take place along the Westport Quay.

Belfast: The Balmoral Show is Northern Ireland’s largest agricultural event of the year. With animal farms, trade shows, food stalls and motorcycle performances, there’s something for everyone. Taking place tomorrow until 5pm, tickets can be purchased at the event.
