Authorities seize €2.4m cannabis stash at Dublin Port

Drugs dog Holly helped identify the haul, hidden in a crate.

A MAN HAS been arrested after Revenue officers seized €2.4 million worth of illegal drugs at Dublin Port.

Last night, 376kg of cannabis resin and 9.7kg of herbal cannabis, with a total estimated value of €2,450,000 were found and seized.

The illegal drugs were uncovered in crates in a truck that had disembarked the evening ferry arriving from Holyhead.

Following a positive indication on the truck by drugs dog Holly, the detection was made by Revenue’s mobile X-ray scanner.

The arrested man, who’s 41 years old and from Northern Ireland, is being held at Store Street Garda Station.

Investigations are ongoing with the cooperation of the PSNI.
