WELL, AFTER A cold and snowy few weeks, it looks like we’re set for a mild, but somewhat wet Christmas.
Tomorrow will start off rather cold and misty, with patches of drizzle and fog across the country.
Met Éireann says more persistent rain will develop along the northwest coast in the evening. However, despite the rain, temperatures will range from between 10 to 12 degrees.
It’s expected to stay mild, albeit rather dull and breezy in the lead up to Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve is forecast to be windy with southwest gusty winds. Rain will move in across the north and west, turning persistent and heavy in coastal counties.
Counties further east will stay mainly dry, but much like recent days relatively cloudy too.
Temperatures will remain between 10 and 12 degrees.
Heavy rain is expected in eastern and southern areas on Christmas morning.
The rain is expected to clear in the afternoon to much colder showery conditions with winds veering westerly.
Cold, windy and showery conditions are forecast for Christmas night.
It looks like the frosty weather will creep back in as wintry conditions are expected in northern areas, leading to icy patches.
The rain is forecast to persist on St Stephen’s Day, spreading eastwards in the morning.
Some sleet is expected in places, but will later clear to brighter conditions with wintry showers.
Again, some frosty conditions are expected overnight.
