Poll: Have you ever sent your child to school while they were sick?

Last week parents were urged to keep sick children at home to prevent the flu virus spreading further.

LAST WEEK, IRISH parents were urged to keep sick children home from school, as a particular strain of the flu virus threatened to become widespread among the country’s under-15s.

The unusually high number of children contracting the B strain of influenza caused the Health Service Executive to issue an official warning.

Influenza can be infectious and transmissible for up to a day before any symptoms show, making it all the more essential for children who are displaying symptoms to be kept away from their peers.

Of course, keeping your child home for the day is easier said than done if you’re a full-time worker with a string of appointments or meetings in your diary – and most parents have had the ‘are they well enough for school?’ mental debate at one point or another.

So, tell us: Have you ever sent your child to school while they were sick?

Poll Results:

Yes, but they weren't contagious (198)
No, I always keep them home (168)
Yes, I had no choice (156)
I don't know (58)
