"It's going to impact my life": Immigrants have their say on both sides of the referendum debate

Only Irish citizens are allowed to vote in Friday’s referendum.

THIS FRIDAY IRISH citizens go to the polls to decide whether to repeal or replace the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution, which acknowledges the right to life of the unborn and gives it an equal right to the life of the mother.

Whatever the outcome, the laws surrounding this amendment impact not only Irish citizens, but people from other countries who are residents here.

We spoke to some of those residents who – while not being able to vote in Friday’s referendum – campaign and support for either the Yes or No sides of this contentious debate for the future of abortion laws in Ireland.
