Knock-on delays at Dublin Airport after radar system fault

Flights going in and out of Dublin Airport were suspended for approximately an hour.

LAST UPDATE | 24 Nov 2018

FLIGHTS IN AND out of Dublin Airport are expected to be delayed after an issue with the airport’s radar system this morning.

Flights due to land in and fly out of Dublin Airport were suspended for just under an hour, with the radar system returning just before 10am.

Although the Irish Aviation Authority, which handles the radar system, has repaired the fault – knock-on delays are still expected.

“This issue has now been resolved by the Irish Aviation Authority and flight operations have resumed. There will be knock-on delays due to the system outage,” Dublin Airport said earlier on Twitter.

Please check with your airline in relation to the status of your flight & monitor flight information screens.

“We regret any inconvenience that the radar issue caused to your travel plans this morning,” it added.

In a statement to TheJournal.ie, the Irish Aviation Authority confirmed that the “full air traffic control service has been restored”.

The IAA is satisfied that the resulting backlog will be cleared today and passengers are advised to check with their airline for details of departures and arrivals.

“The IAA regrets any disruption to flights at Dublin airport. Decisions to restrict operations are taken solely to assure the safety of the travelling public and flight crew.”
