A Cold Weather Payment is in place in the North

SINN FÉIN HAS led calls for the introduction of a welfare payment for severe weather events.

A Cold Weather Payment already exists in Northern Ireland, which kicks in when temperatures fall below zero degrees Celsius for seven days.

Each payment is worth £25, and is made automatically for those who already receive a qualifying benefit.

So we’re wondering: Should the Government introduce a Cold Weather Payment in Ireland?
