WITH A DARK grey exterior and few windows, Kylebeg appears to the unknowing passer-by to be a dark, minimalistic structure. The inside, however, is quite the opposite.
A five-bedroom property, Kylebeg featured on RTÉ’s Home of the Year in 2015 – and it’s clear to see why. The building comprises three interlinked blocks, each of which are flooded with natural light thanks to the inclusion of light chimneys, glass ceilings and solid Iroko-framed windows, which double as doors leading outside.
One of the three blocks spans two-storeys and is home to the five bedrooms, while the other two blocks are single-storey and boast double height ceilings. Throughout the property, there’s a mix of semi-solid limed oak flooring and terrazzo flooring.
There’s no shortage of space to entertain at Kylebeg, with an open-plan kitchen and dining area that’s made for hosting dinner parties. Sleek cabinets and countertops provide plenty of space for storing and preparing food, while there’s room to seat at least eight at the dining table. Large windows overlooking the mature gardens bring the outside in.
Moving over to the interconnecting living and sitting rooms, an open fireplace and solid fuel inset stove will transform the space into a warm and cosy area as rain plummets down on cold winter days.
Each of the five bedrooms are bright and spacious, and feature either poured stone flooring or semi-solid limed oak flooring. There are three en-suite bathrooms, which come complete with anti-slip tiling and Duravit sanitary ware. In the family bathroom, a free-standing limestone double-ended bath is perfect for soaking in after a long day.
Kylebeg sits on half an acre of mature gardens, with an array of trees and shrubbery including fruit trees and an old well, as well as wrap-around decking.
Prosperous town is just a five-minute drive away, while Sallins can be reached within a 10-minute car ride. If you fancy commuting to the city centre, the journey will take about an hour.
