Man killed in overnight Dublin stabbing removed for post-mortem

Two men who were arrested remain under garda custody.

A POST-MORTEM is being carried out this afternoon on the body of a man who died after a stabbing in south Dublin last night. 

The 31-year-old was found with apparent stab wounds in Loughlinstown, Co Dublin just after midnight. 

Local gardai as well as members of the Armed Support Unit and emergency services attended the scene but the man was pronounced dead shortly after. 

Members of the garda technical and forensic examination team attended the scene this morning and the deceased’s body has since been removed to the morgue. 

Assistant State Pathologist Dr Bolster is due to carry out a post-mortem this afternoon. 

Two men who were arrested following the incident are still being questioned at Shankill Garda Station and can be held for up to 24 hours. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and are particularly appealing for those who were in the vicinity of Loughlinstown Drive between 11.30 pm and 12.15 am to come forward. 

A specific appeal is also being made for motorists who may have dashcam footage.
