This week, Melissa Murray (@melx) chatted us through a professional photo of her with her two children, Caydan and Caoimhe.
This photo was part of a “mommy and me” photo shoot we did. I thought it was such a wonderful idea. I have literally thousands of photos of the kids and probably only one or two of me in the photo with them because I am the one always taking the photos. I want to be able to look back at photos of me with them and also for them to look back on some day and say ‘that’s my mom’!
I remember this being a very challenging morning. Caydan was three months old and Caoimhe May was 18 months old. It was the first morning I ventured out on my own and I was so anxious about it. I found it so hard to get two babies out of the house. I had to wake them at a certain time so Caydan would have his nap in the car on the way, which meant I only had a 90 minute window to get them both up, changed and fed.
Then I had to get myself ready. I remember the days I used have hours to get ready – those days are long gone! I got them both dressed last so they wouldn’t dirty their outfits. Then it was out to the car, which in itself is an ordeal with two babies and changing bags. But, we made it and it wasn’t as bad as I had built it up in my head.
Actually getting the photos was near impossible. Caydan is a mommy’s boy and doesn’t do well with other people, so he was clung to me and not very happy about being there. He wanted to be in my arms the whole time. He didn’t have much of a nap either, so he was a little cranky.
Caoimhe May was over-excited about being there. She was hyper running around looking at everything, so trying to get her to stay in one place to take a photo was impossible as she was too busy exploring. There was a lot of Baby Shark sung and silly faces pulled to try and get them to look at the camera, which worked a treat in the end. I was so happy with how the photo, by amazingly talented Vivien from R&R Photography, turned out.
