All workers 'safely evacuated' following 'serious fire' at Glenisk plant

Glenisk confirmed that “all colleagues” were “safely evacuated”.

LAST UPDATE | 27 Sep 2021

ALL WORKERS HAVE been safely evacuated following a “serious fire” at a dairy plant production facility in Killeigh, Offaly.

Several units of the fire brigade, ambulances and gardaí are all at the scene of the incident at the Glenisk facility.

Significant damage has been done to the entire facility. However, no serious injuries have been reported.

Some staff members were treated for smoke inhalation.

In a tweet this afternoon, Glenisk confirmed that “all colleagues” were “safely evacuated”.

“Their wellbeing is our priority. We will assess the damage and move forward. Heartfelt thanks to the emergency services,” it said.

Speaking at the plant this afternoon, Glenisk director Gerard Cleary told RTÉ News that “basically everything” had been lost.

“It’s devastating for all of us really at this point in time and we don’t really know what to say,” Cleary said.

“We’ll just have to see what we have and what we can salvage and then just start again. That’s all we can do.”

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
