Garda investigations underway as two men die in road collisions in Dublin and Limerick

A passenger in a car died in Limerick while the driver of a car in Dublin also died.

TWO MEN HAVE died in two separate road collisions in Dublin and Limerick today.

The first, a two car collision, happened at 10am this morning at the junction of Old Cratloe Road and Woodcockhill Road in Limerick.

A passenger, who was in his late 40s (late 40s) was fatally injured when the two car collision occurred. 

The driver, a man in his 20s, was taken to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. 

The driver of second car, a man in his 60s, was uninjured.

The road remains closed at this time and Forensic Collision Investigators are carrying out a technical examination of the scene. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for any witnesses to make contact with them, especially anyone with camera footage, including dash-cam recordings which may help them in their investigation. 

In another collision a man in his 80s has died in a single-vehicle collision in south Dublin this afternoon.

Gardaí are investigating the single-vehicle collision which occurred on Corbawn Lane, Shankhill at approximately 1.30pm.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was critically injured in the collision.

He was removed to St Vincent’s Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The road is currently closed and the services of Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and may have camera footage, including dash-cam, are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.
