Two arrested as gardaí appeal for information on shooting in Finglas supermarket car park

Gardaí were called to the scene in the North Dublin suburb at around 5pm.

LAST UPDATE | 13 May 2022

TWO MEN HAVE been arrested after a man in his 20s was shot in a supermarket car park in the St Margaret’s Road area of Finglas earlier this evening.

Gardaí and emergency services were called to the scene in the North Dublin suburb at around 5pm.

The man was discovered with what gardaí described in a statement tonight as an apparent gunshot wound. It’s understood he was shot in the leg.

He’s since being taken to the Mater Hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Forensic tests were carried out at the scene earlier this evening, gardaí said.

The two men arrested are both aged in their 20s. They’ve been taken to Finglas Garda Station for questioning under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information or anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to get in contact.

They are particularly keen for anyone with mobile phone or dash-cam footage to come forward.

Gardaí can be contacted at Finglas Garda Station 01 666 7500, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
