Man in his 40s dies after stabbing in Ongar area of Dublin

The assault occurred on Main Street, Ongar this evening.

A MAN HAS died following a stabbing incident in Dublin this evening.

The fatal assault happened on Main Street in Ongar.

A garda spokesperson said an “altercation” occurred between two men.

One of the men, a man in his 40s, was removed from the scene to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he has been pronounced dead.

The scene is currently preserved and the Garda Technical Bureau have been requested to conduct a technical examination.

The services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested and a post mortem examination will be carried out in due course.
 
An incident room has been established at Blanchardstown Garda Station under the direction of a Senior Investigating Officer.

A family liaison officer has also been appointed to the family of the deceased man.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the vicinity of Main Street, Ongar this evening between 6.30pm and 7pm to contact Blanchardstown Garda station on 01 666 7000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.

They are also asking for any road users with video footage, including dash cam, to make this available to them.
