A MAN IN his 20s has died and another has been arrested following a fatal assault in a Tallaght estate in the early hours of this morning.

Just before 4am, gardaí and emergency services received a report and attended the scene of a male with a serious injury at a location in the Drumcairn Estate, Tallaght, Dublin 24, in the early hours of this morning.

The man, aged in his 20s, was taken from the scene to Tallaght University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

The coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will be carried out by the State Pathologist in due course.

The scene is currently preserved for technical examination by the Garda National Technical Bureau.

A senior investigating officer has been appointed to lead the inquiry, and an incident room has been established at Tallaght Garda Station.

A Garda Family Liaison Officer has also been assigned to keep the deceased man’s family informed of developments.

A man in his 30s was arrested this morning in connection with the investigation and is currently detained at a Dublin Garda Station.

A garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are particularly interested in hearing from those who were in the Drumcairn Estate area of Tallaght, Dublin 24, between 3am and 4am this morning.

Gardaí are also appealing to individuals with video recordings, including motorists with dash cams, from the area within the same timeframe.
