Sawn-off shotgun and ammunition found in abandoned vehicle during search operation in Dublin

Two vehicles were also seized by gardaí and are subject to a technical examination.

A SAWN-OFF double barrel shotgun and ammunition was found hidden in an abandoned vehicle during a search operation in Dublin yesterday evening.

As part of ongoing investigations into recent criminal activity in the Baldoyle area, gardaí conducted a search operation under warrant at a property on the Moyne Road in Baldoyle.

Assistance was provided by the District Detective Unit, Garda Dog Unit, Armed Support Unit, District Drugs Unit, the District Crime Task Force and uniform Gardaí from Clontarf and Raheny.

During the search operation, gardaí discovered the sawn-off shotgun and ammunition concealed in the abandoned vehicle.

The firearm and ammunition were seized by gardaí and are subject to further analysis by the Ballistics Section of the Garda Technical Bureau. 

Two vehicles were also seized by gardaí and are subject to a technical examination.

No arrests have been made and a garda spokesperson said investigations are ongoing.
