Man dies after being struck by a car in Co Mayo last night

The incident happened at around 11pm on the N60 near Balla.

A MAN IN his 40s has died after being struck by a car in Co Mayo last night.

Shortly before 11pm, gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the N60 at Carrowntober Oughter, Manulla, near Balla.

The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place as the scene is preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

They are also seeking road users with camera footage, including dash-cam, who were traveling in the area at the time of the incident to make it available to gardaí.

In the North, the PSNI also confirmed that a man died after a collision involving a “number of vehicles” in Co Antrim last night.

The collision happened on the Crankill Road in Ballymena.

The road remains closed this morning as the PSNI examines the scene to establish the circumstances of the multiple vehicle collision.
