A 30-year-old man was arrested but has since been released.

GARDAÍ HAVE APPEALED for information in relation to a serious assault that took place in Dublin over the weekend.

At about 1.55am on Sunday a man in his early 30s sustained serious head injuries during an incident outside a pub on Main Street, Blanchardstown.

He was taken by ambulance to Connolly Hospital where he is continuing to receive treatment. His condition is understood to be stable.

A 30-year-old man was arrested by gardaí and detained under Section four of the Criminal Justice Act at Blanchardstown Garda Station. He has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Investigating gardaí have appealed for witnesses, in particular anyone who may have been socialising in the area or buying food in nearby takeaway outlets, and taxi drivers working in the area at the time of the incident.
