Woman arrested after man seriously assaulted outside pub

A man in his 20s sustained serious head injuries and a broken collarbone in the overnight attack.

A 22-YEAR-OLD WOMAN has been arrested in connection with a serious assault outside a pub in Newcastle, Co Down in the early hours of the morning.

A 23-year-old man was hospitalised with serious head injuries in the wake of the attack, which happened on Main Street in the town. He also suffered a broken collarbone.

The woman was arrested at the scene and has been taken for questioning to Bangor PSNI Station.

The man’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police in Newcastle are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
