Teen boy arrested following assault in County Cork, gardaí appealing for witnesses

The teen is being detained at a garda station in West Cork.

GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED an appeal for anyone with information related to an assault that happened in Newmarket, Co Cork on Thursday 6 June to come forward. 

A boy in his teens has been arrested in connection with the assault, and he is currently being detained at a Garda Station in West Cork. 

A spokesperson for Gardaí in Mallow said: 

“Any road users who were travelling in the vicinity of Island Wood on the outskirts of Newmarket, and surrounding areas on Thursday the 6th June, between 4.00pm and 10.00pm, and who may have camera footage (including dash cam and action cameras) is asked to make this available to Gardaí.

“Any person who was walking, cycling, running or visiting the Island Wood walking trails that evening and who may have noticed any unusual activity, is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.

“Anyone with information which may assist Gardaí in their investigation is asked to contact Mallow Garda Station on 022 31450, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.”
