Gardaí investigating serious assault on a busy Dublin road

The incident occurred yesterday evening just after rush hour, and gardaí are appealing for information.

A SERIOUS ASSAULT occurred yesterday evening at the Malahide Road on the north-side of Dublin when at least two men attacked another man just after rush hour.

The attack occurred at around 7pm last night in the middle of the two-lane road, and was filmed by two onlookers.

In the video, a man who is lying down and bleeding, is punched repeatedly in the face and head, while another man appears to hold back the attacker.

A man is also seen directing traffic around and past the injured man.

Gardaí said that they understood the injured man was brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown, and his condition is not believed to be life-threatening.

The gardaí are investigating the incident and have appealed for anyone with information to contact Coolock Garda Station at 01 666 4200, or any other garda station.

The video has been discussed at length on social media since it appeared online, and featured as a topic on RTÉ Radio’s Liveline this afternoon.
